Bending the arc towards justice and equity

Founded in 1993, our organization has a history deeply rooted in activism and action. Check out these stories about our shared accomplishments and the Greenlining racial equity leaders and partners who played a key role in moving our mission forward over the past three decades.

In 2023, The Greenlining Institute launched the Greenlining the Block initiative to strengthen community-based organizations, led by people of color, to advance climate justice neighborhood projects.

Greenlining the Block: The Catalyst for Community Transformation, tells the story of how Greenlining is investing in the wisdom and vision of communities of color to drive effective climate action that meets community needs.

Since launching, Greenlining the Block has partnered with 24 community based organizations across the country to drive forward their visions for climate action projects focusing on everything from:

  • Clean mobility options and transportation justice, 
  • To climate resilience hubs, 
  • environmental restoration,
  • And, anti-displacement and affordable and sustainable housing projects.
