Comment Letter: The Federal Administration’s Request for Information: Development of an Artificial Intelligence Action Plan

In our response to the Trump Administration’s Request for Information in the Development of an AI Action Plan, we make the case that the U.S. can’t lead the world in AI without first getting it right at home.
AI that’s biased, wasteful, and unaccountable isn’t leadership—it’s a liability. We argue that strong safeguards—like energy efficiency standards, disparate impact assessments, and transparency requirements—are not barriers to innovation, but the foundation for it. Fair, sustainable, and equitable AI is possible, but only if we set clear rules that protect communities of color.
Our AI-driven future needs to be a just future for all. It’s on the Trump Administration to create the responsible guardrails that guide the direction of innovation.
