Comment Letter: Greenlining’s Response to the US EPA’s Reconsideration of 2009 Endangerment Finding and Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Standards

The Greenlining Institute submitted comments to the EPA in strong opposition to the reconsideration of the 2009 Endangerment Finding and Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Standards. The proposal to eliminate these critical safeguards is a foolish display of disregard to the overwhelming scientific evidence supporting that carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases threaten human health and communities across the nation.
Greenlining’s comments highlight the deep importance of protecting the well-being of low-income communities, communities of color, children, and older adults and preventing further illnesses due to deadly pollution. Greenlining calls for strong vehicle standards and zero emission transportation solutions at this critical moment facing global warming, and emphasizes that the EPA’s thoughtless proposal will be disastrous to the economy and increase the cost of living.
