FACILITIES
Casa is a two building residence center located two blocks from the UC Berkeley campus. Casa was built in 1914 by renowned architect and UC Berkeley alumna, Julia Morgan. The original hardwood floors, paneling and cabinets remain intact. There is quick and easy access to campus, public transportation, restaurants and shops. Each room is fully furnished. Casa also has a modern computer center with high-speed internet access.
FURNISHED ROOMS
Casa provides each resident with a bed, mattress, dresser, desk, chair, and bookcase.
MEALS
Fees include three meals Monday- Friday. Menus rotate and are open to student feedback and nutritional concerns.
COMPUTER CENTER
Casa offers desktop computers, laser printer, and a scanner. All computers have DSL access.

COOPERATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Casa operates on a "live-learn-work" philosophy that makes the cooperative successful and helps students take ownership of the house. All residents are required to participate in work shift assignments that include building maintenance and cleanup tasks. Residents are also encouraged to attend bi-weekly house meetings that enable them to take part in key decisions and discussions.
STAFF
Professional staff manages Casa's programs and services. Casa's staff is available to work with residents, their families, and university officials to ensure a successful stay at UC Berkeley. Student interns and volunteers work with staff on house activities.
RESIDENTS’ DUTIES & OBLIGATIONS
Residents are required to sign a contract stating their financial and personal responsibilities, which include fulfillment of their financial responsibilities and adhering to Casa’s code of conduct and house rules. Since open dialogue is an important part of residential living, residents are asked to attend bi-monthly house meetings.
FEES
Casa’s room and board fees for the academic year 2006-2007 are as follows:
Single: $7,875
Double: $7,350
Triple: $6,825
Shared Single: $6,300

Because fees can be about $2,500-$4,500 less than the dorms, Casa maintains a strict and firm payment policy. A signed and notarized Terms and Conditions contract along with a $500.00 deposit are required to reserve housing.
