The Multimedia Academy is a ten-month, hands-on media-training program for young leaders who are currently working toward their BA. The curriculum is designed for students who are interested in learning to use the medium of video as a tool for creating influential productions that advocate for important, often overlooked social justice issues. The ultimate goal of the program is to provide Associates with the resources, knowledge and skills necessary to utilize media as a means of influencing change.

Program Associates receive a comprehensive series of trainings in video production, specifically focused on documentary filmmaking, leadership development, media and advocacy. In addition, Associates learn about Greenlining's unique approach to public policy advocacy. To ensure a well-rounded, diverse curriculum, throughout the program, a range of experienced professionals will lead workshops in key areas related to producing short form advocacy documentaries. Academy training topics include: Camera Operation, Basic Lighting, Basic Audio, Editing, Concept Development, Project Management, Interview Technique and Question Development, Documentary Scriptwriting, Storytelling and Advocacy 101.

In addition to receiving multiple trainings, Associates spend their time working collaboratively to produce in-house projects that reflect the ongoing work of the organization in improving equity and access for all California communities. This work includes: live event coverage, interviews, research and development, editing and dissemination. Associates work directly with Greenlining staff to develop the core messaging and goals for each production. At the end of their year, Associates are asked to independently direct a piece on a topic of interest and present it as their final piece before graduating from the program.
