On April 4th, CFPB Director Richard Cordray spoke at the Greenlining Institute’s Economic Summit.5 Cordray discussed the four chief consumer issues that the CFPB is addressing, which he refers to as “the four D’s”: deceptive marketing, debt traps, dead end markets and discrimination. He emphasized in particular the CFPB’s use of its authority to restrict unfair, deceptive, and abusive acts and practices in addressing these four areas.
