Legal Advocacy Mission Statement

Greenlining's legal advocacy is policy-focused and strives to protect and promote the interests of California 's vulnerable communities. For example, Greenlining's Advocacy team has created projects in such areas as: microbusiness development, increasing diversity in the legal profession, small business technical assistance, alternative energy, restructuring the intervenor compensation program, environmental justice, technology access and educational pipeline programs.

Through its policy and legal advocacy Greenlining creates a dynamic which brings together diverse voices, including community-based and faith-based organizations, corporations, legislators and regulators. Central to all of Greenlining's work is the “big picture” recognition of the interrelatedness of issues facing low-income and minority communities. It is this recognition that pushes Greenlining to aim for nothing less than a paradigm shift across California 's movements for social justice.

For further information about the Greenlining Institute's Advocacy Program or related projects, contact Sam Kang, Managing Attorney at 510.926.4011 or via email at samuelk@greenlining.org.
