Leadership Academy: Summer Associates Program

The Summer Associates Program : Overview

The Academy Associates program is an intensive 10-week training program for young leaders that have completed, at minimum, their undergraduate degrees by the start of the program. Associates manage research and advocacy projects with the direction of a Greenlining staff member or program team. Their findings and projects are presented in both a written and oral report at a symposium hosted by the Greenlining Institute at the end of the program.

In addition, every Friday summer associates will be given the task of examining a critical problem facing California's undeserved communities.  On these issue days associates will be scheduled to meet with some of the state's top leaders and stakeholders who are trying to address the problem.

Ultimately the goal of the program is to expose Associates to key community leaders, new issues, and new methods of advocacy as part of their training in becoming the next generation of social justice leaders.

Training

  • Participate in leadership skills workshops
  • Attend power lunches with key stakeholders
  • Conduct site visits to community, government, and corporate entities

Compensation

For their work Associates receive:

  • $1,700 per month
